Deepak P Edward, M.D. FACS, FARVO is an active clinician who maintains a busy clinical and surgical schedule for the treatment of advanced and complex glaucoma. He has been listed in the Best Doctors in America list for many years. He has a wide range of research interests in the fields of ophthalmic education, glaucoma, ophthalmic pathology, biomarkers, cell biology and proteomics. He has over 200 publications including those in including chapters in several well-known books. His research has been funded by the National Eye Institute, Department of Defense and other funding agencies.

Dr Edward has memberships in a number of professional societies including AAO, American Glaucoma Society, the prestigious Verhoeff-Zimmerman Society, and the American Ophthalmological Societies. He is the former Editor in Chief of the Middle East African Journal of Ophthalmology and is on the editorial board of several other journals and publications. He has been an associate examiner for the American board of Ophthalmology for several years.

Dr Edward is an innovative educator and has been awarded several teaching awards during his career including a Lifetime teaching award at the University of Illinois. He has been instrumental in initiating a web-based teaching program for pathology and other specialties.
