Dr. Al Shamsi is a Saudi board certified ophthalmologist. She currently serves as a consultant and head of ophthalmology department in Al Ain Hospital, United Arab Emirates. She obtained her medical degree with honours and distinction from UAE University. Dr. Alshamsi then joined a four years residency program at King Saud University in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She completed two fellowship programs at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, KSA: (1) Pediatric ophthalmology and Uveitis. (2) Medical retina.
