Abdulla A Naqi, MD is a fellowship-trained glaucoma, cataract, and anterior segment surgeon with practice focus on the surgical management of glaucoma, complex cataract and intraocular lens complications. Dr. Naqi has been working with Dubai Heath Authority since 1998. He progressed in DHA ophthalmology department and became the head of the department from 2014-2016. He also established the community care ophthalmology section that is provided at the community health centers in Dubai. Mohamed Sayed, MD, is an internationally recognised Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract, glaucoma, and anterior segment surgery in adults and children at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai in Dubai Healthcare City.
He has undergone advanced fellowship training in glaucoma and paediatric ophthalmology at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida, USA. He is one of a handful of specialists with dual training in these two subspecialties.
Dr. Sayed has more than 13 years of international experience in ophthalmology, working in major centers of excellence in Saudi Arabia and the United States. Before joining Moorfields Dubai, he worked for eight years in the United States, where he practised tertiary-level advanced glaucoma and cataract care and held the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. There, he trained residents and fellows on the most advanced surgical techniques. Additionally, he served on the clinical faculty of Florida State University.
His areas of expertise are in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataract, including laser surgery, customised cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants (toric, extended depth of field and trifocal), minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), surgery for complex glaucoma (trabeculectomy and tube shunt devices), and combined cataract and glaucoma surgery. His surgical innovations include refining techniques of glaucoma drainage devices to render them less invasive and combining minimally invasive procedures (laser, canaloplasty and miniature stents) to achieve optimal intraocular pressure control. He is one of a few ophthalmologists in the Middle East who specialise in childhood glaucoma.
Dr. Sayed is an accomplished researcher with numerous publications in major ophthalmology journals and book chapters to his credit. His publications on laser surgery techniques in glaucoma are considered authoritative. He received a prestigious award for clinician scientists from the American Glaucoma Society for conducting cutting-edge research on artificial intelligence in glaucoma. Dr. Salman Waqar is an experienced consultant ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of adult glaucoma and cataracts at Moorfields Eye Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City.
His areas of expertise include medical, laser and surgical treatments for glaucoma (including minimally invasive implants and aqueous shunt devices). He is practicing Ophthalmology since 1994. Tamer has obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. UK, in 2003, as well he had his master’s degree in Ophthalmology, Ain Shams University, Cairo-Egypt, in 1998.
His main Interests and expertise in Refractive Surgeries and Corneal Surgeries.
Tamer is a member of many national and international societies and organizations. Recently he is a member of the Executive committee of the ISRS ”International Society of Refractive Surgery”, as well a member of the Regional Advisory committee of the AAO “American Academy of Ophthalmology”.
He is actively participating in many conferences around the world as well shared in organizing many scientific conferences for which he received many awards from different national and international organizations.
Dr. Tariq Al-Rawashdeh is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal surgeon for the last 7 years after he finished his subspecialty fellowship from Charite University Hospital Berlin and Hamburg University Hospital in Germany during the period 2009 to 2012.

Dr. Waleed Ghobashy; Assistant Professor and Consultant of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine,
Suez Canal University, Egypt. After serving for a year in Moorfields Eye Hospital Center, Abu Dhabi
as consultant ophthalmology. Dr. Waleed started a new role in October 2020 as the Medical
Director & Head of Glaucoma & Cataract Unit, Magrabi Eye Center, Al Ain, UAE
Dr. Waleed started his career in the ophthalmology field in 1996 as a resident in Suez Canal
University Hospital, Egypt. He received his master degree in ophthalmology in 2000 in field of
cataract surgery. He received advanced ophthalmology training from 2000 to 2005, concluded by
passing MD exams , and getting his PhD thesis in “Ocular changes after myopic LASIK” from Faculty
of Medicine, Suez Canal University, Egypt. His supervisor was the Refractive Pioneer Prof. Dr.
Karem Kolkailah. Dr. Ghobashy then moved to Knoxville, TN, USA to act as the clinical fellow of Dr.
Steven Sterling MD; the distinguished phaco refractive surgeon of East Tennessee 2005 to 2007.
Dr. Waleed Ghobashy then returned home to act as clinical lecturer and consultant of
ophthalmology in faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University. From 2007 till present, Dr. Ghobashy
did extensive research and clinical work in refractive surgeries, cataract, glaucoma, medical retina
and Electrophysiological diagnosis of ocular diseases, with over 30 published research papers in
many regional and international scientific journals, gained the title of Assistant Professor of
ophthalmology in 2014.
Dr. Ghobashy is a member of many ophthalmology associations, and a speaker in the annual
meetings of the most prestigious ophthalmological societies including American Academy of
Ophthalmology (AAO), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), American
Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), Egyptian Society of Ophthalmology (ESO),

Sheikha Dr Al Qassimi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University (MBBS).
She did her internship in Al Ain hospitals, then left to Cairo, Egypt to pursue her master’s degree in Kasr El-Aini.
Sheikha Dr. Al Qassimi joined the residency program in the Ophthalmology Department at Bonn University Hospital where Prof Dr. Frank Holz is the Chief of the Ophthalmology Department. Her experiences included general ophthalmology and all the subspecialties including procedures and surgeries. After getting the German Board (FACHARZT), she completed 2 years Fellowship in the same department in Medical Retina
Then joined Moorfield’s Eye Hospital under Prof Dr. Sue Lightman’s supervision for 18 months fellowship in Uveitis and Medical Retina as a full registered Doctor at the General Medical Council.
During that period, she was engaged in the clinical practice and research facility, as she conducted several multi center research clinical trials.
She has a wealth of experience in diagnosing, investigating, and managing conditions such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Vascular retinopathy, retinal degenerations and dystrophies, macular diseases, and inflammatory eye diseases.
Currently, Sheikha Al Qassimi is a consultant in medical retina and uveitis at Shaikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi.
