Abdulla A Naqi, MD is a fellowship-trained glaucoma, cataract, and anterior segment surgeon with practice focus on the surgical management of glaucoma, complex cataract and intraocular lens complications. Dr. Naqi has been working with Dubai Heath Authority since 1998. He progressed in DHA ophthalmology department and became the head of the department from 2014-2016. During his leadership Dr. Naqi established the residency program in ophthalmology. He also established the community care ophthalmology section that is provided at the community health centers in Dubai. Arif O. Khan MD is Consultant in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus and in Ocular Genetics at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and is Professor of Ophthalmology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Previously, until the end of 2015, he was Senior Academic Consultant at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Senior Scientist at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center, also in Riyadh. Before he moved to the Gulf region in January 2002, Dr. Khan was in private practice in New York. Dr. Khan’s clinical and research interests are the management and genetics of ocular developmental disorders and strabismus. He is a frequent presenter at international ophthalmology meetings and has authored hundreds of scientific publications related to his field. Dr. Khan is Editor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology Basic and Clinical Science Course book on Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus (BCSC Section 6) and Editorial Board member for journal Ophthalmic Genetics. Previously, he was Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His initial tenure at the Wilmer Eye Institute was serving as Chief of the Cornea Division and Senior Academic Consultant at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Over the course of his career he has also been on the faculty at the Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Francis I. Proctor Foundation and the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Gritz’s training began at the University of Missouri, Kansas City’ssix-year combined BA/MD program for his undergraduate and medical degrees. His ophthalmology residency was at the University of Texas, San Antonio Health Sciences Center and his clinical fellowship in cornea and uveitis was at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation for Research in Ophthalmology and the University of California, San Francisco. He earned his Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of California, Berkeley. He has completed research fellowships in both cornea and ophthalmic pathology and uveitis at the Doheny Eye Institute and University of Southern California.
Professor Gritz’s research deals with the epidemiology of corneal and inflammatory eye disease, as well as clinical trials, working both in the USA and internationally, resulting in seminal original publications. He has received numerous awards for his clinical and research work as well as his commitment to and love of teaching.
Dr Fatima Ibrahim AL-Amiri joined Al Qassimi hospital –Sharjah (Ministry of Health) in 1997 after completing my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Punjab University- Lahore –PAKISTAN. 2002 Master in Ophthalmology from university of London College –UK. Followed by a Master in Health Management Policy and Planning from LEEDS University –UK. In 2004 I have awards of Sheikh Rashid prize of Science presented by H. H. Sh. Mohammed bent Rashid AL Maktoom In 2006 pointed as National Coordinator of Preventive of Blindness in UAE –in 2016 pointed as Emirates precedent of emirates committee of Right to sight by Minster of health and preventive in UAE by Ministerial Resolution up-to-date. In 2010 I was elected vice president of the Emirates Ophthalmic Society, presently elected as general secretary of Emirates Ophthalmic Society. At present; she is working as a specialist and head of Ophthalmology department at Al Qassimi hospital. And Kuwait Hospital -Sharjah, iam working as anterior segment ophthalmic and surgeon, Medical Retina. And is actively involved in teaching the residents. And student of Sharjah medical college- Sharjah University.
Honors and Awards: –Francesco Pichi graduated summa cum laude from the Alma Mater Studiorum of the University of Bologna and went on to pursue his ophthalmology residency at the University of Milan under the mentorship of Prof Giovanni Staurenghi. He underwent a preceptorship in uveitis and ocular immunology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (University of Miami, USA). He has pursued a two years’ fellowship with Dr Careen Lowder at Cole Eye Institute (Cleveland Clinic, USA) in uveitis and ocular inflammations and infections, before joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He has served as staff physician of retina and uveitis in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for 5 years, and as Ophthalmology Residency Program director for 1 year. Dr. Pichi He has authored 12chapters in various text books and published a book on “Complications in uveitis”. He was awarded for the best paper and best poster presentation at American Academy of Ophthalmology 2015 and 2017 and at International Ocular Inflammatory Society in 2019, and also received the International Ophthalmology Educational Award (2016), the International Scholar Award (2018) and the Achievement Award (2018) from AAO. Professional Qualifications:Dr El-Ghrably, MS, PhD, FRCOphth is a staff physician in the eye institute at Cleveland clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland clinic Abu Dhabi he was a consultant retina specialist at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, UK. Dr El-Ghrably was the Royal College tutor for the department of ophthalmology, at James Cook University Hospital, also he was the educational and clinical supervisor for specialty trainee doctors. He chaired the Research and Development (R&D) lead for the division of surgery in JCUH for a while and was the Ophthalmology representative for North East Local Eye Health Network (LEHN). Dr El-Ghrably is a Member of Advisory Board for some industrial Pharmaceutical companies. Also he was the Founder of Northern Regional Annual Audit meeting and a member of royal college, UK national committee for requirement of specialist trainees.
In April 2012 he received the NHS Clinical Excellence Award from JCUH as recognition for his excellent clinical service and his contribution in: teaching, training and research. And in January 2000 he had Nottingham University research prize for his PhD project. Dr El-Ghrably has a special interest in medical and surgical retinal disorders. He did large number of ocular surgeries including: 3000 phacoemulsification with intraocular lens and nearly 800 of Vitreoretinal surgeries. Dr. Al Messabi has been known to be a pioneer when it comes to new developments in his field. He is one of the first 2 surgeons to introduce Femto-Cataract surgery to the Middle East in early 2012 and new types of multifocal intraocular lenses. A leader of innovation and one of the first few surgeons in the Middle East to start and to teach the most advanced forms of Corneal transplant like DSAEK and DALK in 2007.

Dr. Salman Waqar is an experienced consultant ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of adult glaucoma and cataracts at Moorfields Eye Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City.

He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, such as the British Journal of Ophthalmology and the Journal of Cataract and refractive Surgery, and presents regularly at national and international meetings.
He holds memberships with the United Kingdom and Eire Glaucoma Society, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
In his capacity as an Honorary Fellow with Plymouth University, he has been involved in training the doctors and surgeons of our future. In 2019, his work was recognized with a nomination for a regional Trainer of the Year Award by the Peninsula School of Ophthalmology. In addition, he has been the recipient of numerous research grants, and has co-authored two medical textbooks. Other accolades include invitations as a surgical skills instructor at minimally invasive glaucoma surgery courses, and to the microsurgical skills course with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
In his spare time he is an avid reader, aspiring author and motivated triathlete.

Dr. Tahra AlMahmoud, Department of Surgery, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University. Dr. Tamer Gamaly is a consultant Ophthalmologist, working in Magrabi Eye Centers & Hospitals “UAE – EGYPT – OMAN – KSA”, since 1998 till now. He is practicing Ophthalmology since 1994. Tamer has obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. UK, in 2003, as well he had his master’s degree in Ophthalmology, Ain Shams University, Cairo-Egypt, in 1998. His main Interests and expertise are in Refractive Surgeries and Corneal Surgeries. Tamer is a member of many national and international societies and organizations. Recently he is the ISRS representative in the UAE, since 2014. He is actively participating in many conferences around the world. Tamer has shared in organizing many scientific conferences. As well, he is a reviewer in the Journal of Refractive Surgery. He received many awards from different national and international organizations.
Dr. Tariq Al-Rawashdeh is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal surgeon for the last 7 years after he finished his subspecialty fellowship from Charite University Hospital Berlin and Hamburg University Hospital in Germany during the period 2009 to 2012.
Dr. Tariq’s strong points in eye care medical and surgical treatment for Retinal Disorders include Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Detachment Surgery with the latest technology of 25 gage and 27 gage Vitrectomy for Retinal Repair plus all types of Intravitreal injections and implants; Cataract surgery with conventional Phacoemulsification and Femto associated Cataract Extraction include all intraocular lens implantation, Multifocal lenses, Toric lenses and Monofocal; Refractive Surgery include PRK, Lasik surgery, Femto Lasik and Implantation of ICL and Toric ICL; Penetrating Keratoplasty.

Dr. Waleed Ghobashy; Assistant Professor and Consultant of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, Egypt. After serving for a year in Moorfields Eye Hospital Center, Abu Dhabi as consultant ophthalmology. Dr. Waleed started a new role in October 2020 as the Medical Director & Head of Glaucoma & Cataract Unit, Magrabi Eye Center, Al Ain, UAE.
Dr. Waleed started his career in the ophthalmology field in 1996 as a resident in Suez Canal University Hospital, Egypt. He received his master degree in ophthalmology in 2000 in field of cataract surgery. He received advanced ophthalmology training from 2000 to 2005, concluded by passing MD exams , and getting his PhD thesis in “Ocular changes after myopic LASIK” from Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, Egypt. His supervisor was the Refractive Pioneer Prof. Dr. Karem Kolkailah. Dr. Ghobashy then moved to Knoxville, TN, USA to act as the clinical fellow of Dr. Steven Sterling MD; the distinguished phaco refractive surgeon of East Tennessee 2005 to 2007.
Dr. Waleed Ghobashy then returned home to act as clinical lecturer and consultant of ophthalmology in faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University. From 2007 till present, Dr. Ghobashy did extensive research and clinical work in refractive surgeries, cataract, glaucoma, medical retina and Electrophysiological diagnosis of ocular diseases, with over 30 published research papers in many regional and international scientific journals, gained the title of Assistant Professor of ophthalmology in 2014.
Dr. Ghobashy is a member of many ophthalmology associations, and a speaker in the annual meetings of the most prestigious ophthalmological societies including American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), Egyptian Society of Ophthalmology (ESO), Emirates Society of Ophthalmology.
